| Synopsis | This episode features highlights and stories including all the best rides from the 2012 Da Hui Backdoor Shootout and 2012 Volcom Pipe Pro. These two events were blessed with epic waves at the Banzai Pipeline. While each event scored great surf, the two couldn't be more different in format. With the Da Hui Backdoor Shootout utilizing a non-elimination best of format, the field of gnarly chargers all had multiple cracks at the lineup, but Hawaii's own Reef McIntosh took home the winner's check. The Volcom Pipe Pro kicks off the competitive season for the ASP tour as a Qualifying series event. As is the usual case with Pipe, the locals tend to do the best and it was two Pipe locals battling for first with John John Florence coming away with a nail bitter of a win over neighbor Jamie O'Brien. We also feature and profile on well-known barrel style master, Evan Valiere. |
